Abstract :
Amphiphilic complex biswN-hexadecyl-8-hydroxy-2-quinoline carboxamidexcadmium CdL2.forms stable monolayers
on pure water subphase. The Langmuir monolayer can be transferred by vertical dipping onto substrates with Y-type
configuration. Low-angle X-ray diffraction measurements showed CdL2 Langmuir–Blodgett LB. films had good homo-
geneity with a bilayer height of ca. 5.04 nm. This LB film exhibited intense fluorescence. Organic electroluminescent EL.
diodes with a single-layer structure indiumrtin oxide ITO.remitting layerrAl. have been fabricated with CdL2 LB films
as the emitting material. Greenish-yellow EL emission with a luminance of about 1200 cdrm2 was observed with a low
voltage drive 7 V.. The number of the layer of LB films and the deposited surface pressure had strong influence on the EL
intensity of the EL diode. q1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
