Abstract
Efforts to speed up experimental exploration of complex material systems in the pursuit to uncover the myth of fascinating phenomena of condensed matter physics are described. We focus our discussion to the experimental techniques of epitaxial growth of thin film “continuous phase diagrams” (CPDs) and mapping their physical properties. As an example, we discuss the results of mapping optical, electrical and magnetic properties of manganese oxides as functions of doping concentration, ionic radius, etc. We discuss the surprising evidences that suggest various electronic phase transitions such as spin-orbital orderings and electronic smectic phase formation in this highly correlated electronic system.
