In this paper, a TYD version of the "Roe scheme" based on flux
difference splitting method has been applied for one and two dimensional numerical
modeling of dam-break problem. The accuracy of the proposed numerical scheme
has been verified by comparing the results with the analytical solutions available
from some standard test problems and conventional finite difference schemes. The
results demonstrate robust and accurate behavior of the second-order "Roe-TYD
scheme" in comparison with the first-order "upwind- TYD scheme" and the secondorder
"non-TYD Lax-Wendroffscheme". It has also been deduced that the Superbee
for 10 problems and the minmod for 2D problems are the most appropriate limiter
functions. in this scheme. Finally, it has been shown that the scheme is able to
simulate bore-bore and bore-barrier interactions. The shape, location and magnitude
of the vortices caused by the interaction of the propagated bore and a cross-barrier at
the downstream of the dam has been simulated too
