Abstract
E-Human Resources Management Systems (e-HRMS) are becoming increasingly important in helping modern organizations manage their human assets effectively. Yet, e-HRMS adoption remains a less researched phenomenon; particularly in the Middle East region. The purpose of this paper is thus to examine the readiness of the Egyptian pharmaceutical firms to adopting modern e-HRM systems. A hypothetical framework to guide this study has been developed in light of an intensive literature review and further, has been empirically investigated in a sample of Egyptian pharmaceutical firms. This research adopts a descriptive research methodology that rests on collecting survey-based data from 113 respondents who meet the criteria required to address the main issue of this research’s subject matter. This research contributes to the body of knowledge on the subject of e-HRM and is relevant for both HR academia and practitioners. The main contributions of this paper are the development and empirical validation of a hypothetical framework that predicts positive variance in e-HRM system users’ net benefits and also, the identification of factors that affect users of e-HRM systems. This paper also suggests areas to maximize the e-HRM users’ acceptance and minimize their reluctance to adopt the technological tools, resulting in success in the implementation of e-HRM systems.
