Discourse Intonation seems to be particularly well suited for use in the EFL classroom, muchmore so than the rather complex traditional models or some recent phonological theories. Yet ifEnglish teachers are to be provided with clear guidelines on how to incorporate Discourse Intonationinto communicative language teaching, much more empirical research is needed with English studentsto uncover the specific problems they face.This paper aims to examine the theory of discourse intonation and to discusssome issues relatedto teaching intonation.
