E- GOVERNMENT READINESS IN JORDAN: A SITUATION ANALYSIS

This paper provides an e-government readiness assessment tool in general and a situation analysis of Jordan e-government readiness in particular. The research model provided in this paper is based on two main factors: website assessment and environmental factors. The first factor was analyzed by sophistication of government online services and government online service itself. The other factor was analyzed by two other variables: cultural environment and business environment. By studying these factors in Jordan, the study achieved its objectives and aims of analyzing the current state of e-government readiness. By reviewing the literature, the researcher found out that the government s efforts towards e-government may vary according to the country s readiness and other key implementation factors, which will lead to a diverse e-government experience; thus there is a need for studying the impact of key factors to implement e-government in Jordan.
