This paper aims at examining the end-of-verse words (Arabic: Fawasel) of some of the Qur anic verses at Surat Al- Ahzab (The Confederates) in the Holy Qur an. These words are that come at the end of the verse, start with the Arabic definite article (Al-), and end with a long vowel /a/that does not come with other similar ending words. These ending words include Al-Dhonoona which means suppositions; Ar- Rasoola; the Messenger; and As – Sabeela; the Path. The paper introduced the readings of these ending words with the views of the scholars of linguistics, interpretation of Qur an, rhetorics, and others in order to show the reason behind adding the long vowel to the above – mentioned words. The paper shows that one of the most important points is that these words occur in such a way as Rhymes in poetry. However, this view and other views are not taken into consideration for the resons mentioned after the discussion of the study. Further, the researcher agrees with the semantic explanation suggested by modernizers since it is more acceptable and convincing to understand.
