Mobile Phone Services in Jordan: Evolution and Evaluation

Mobile devices have been one of the fastest adopted consumer products of all times. This can be attributed to the escalation of wireless telecommunications that created a tremendous potential platform for providing business services. This reality has led to new methods of conducting marketing activities such as mobile marketing, and this new methods is spreading in many developed countries. As a first step, this paper aims to shed some light on the Jordanian mobile phone services provided in the Jordanian market. Currently, two giant service providers namely; Fastlink and MobilCom dominate the mobile market in Jordan. Competition between the two mobile phone companies appears to be very keen. A questionnaire was distributed concerning 34 services attributes provided to consumers. A total of 666 respondents participated in the survey. The results show that consumers are satisfied from the services provided by both companies and there were some slight differences in evaluation of mobile phone services due to demographics characteristics
