In the academic realm drew the environment the attention of University Studies branches of different, remind them what a decade of conferences in the science faculties in various universities in Iraq about the environment and pollution, and initiated some of the engineering colleges to create a Department of Environmental Engineering, as is the case at the University of Babylon, as was the development section Environmental Engineering in 2007. At the same attention to Iraq under the protection of the environment has been appointed Minister of State for the marshes that were drained entirely by the former regime, and for the purpose of rehabilitation and provision of basic services to them.
