The present research paper is an analytical description of exclamatory forms in English. Itsmain objective is to examine the research studies that shed light on these language structuresfrom a grammatical and a pragmatic perspective. Analysing the available literature on thesesentences revealed some discrepancies in the views of grammarians with regard to theirterminology and classification as a sentence type as well as insufficiency in extensiveresearch that covers their pragmatics. Moreover, it demonstrated that most of these studiestargeted wh - exclamatives at the expense of other forms.

الورقة البحثية الحالية هي وصف تحليلي لأشكال التعجب باللغة الإنجليزية. هدفها الرئيسي هو فحص الدراسات البحثية التي تلقي الضوء على هذه الهياكل اللغوية من منظور نحوي وعملي. كشف تحليل الأدبيات المتوفرة حول هذه العروض عن بعض التناقضات في آراء النحاة فيما يتعلق بمصطلحهم وتصنيفهم كنوع جملة وكذلك قصور في البحث الموسع الذي يغطي براغماتهم. علاوة على ذلك ، فقد أظهر أن معظم هذه الدراسات استهدفت استخدام تعجّب wh على حساب الأشكال الأخرى.
