The religious and cultural uniqueness of Medina motivated various historians, through the ages, to pay attention to its cultural and geographical landmarks and the historical events related to them. One of those pioneer historians who cared for Medina’s history in his book Akhbar Al-Madina is Abu Ghassan Mohammed Bin Yahya Al-Kinani Al-Madani, who lived in 198e/813. To the researcher’s knowledge, no previous academic studies have been conducted on this historian and his book except for some scattered historical sources. The object of this study is, then, to investigate the following aspects of this historian and his book: - Overview of the city’s cultural reality in early Islam. - Providing biographical information about Abu Ghassan Mohammed bin Yahya Al-Madani. - Close reading of Abu Ghassan Mohammed bin Yahya's accounts of Medina and its news. - Analysis of Abu Ghassan Mohammed bin Yahya’s book Akhbar Al- Madina through the collected texts. - The Impact of Abu Ghassan Mohammed bin Yahya on later historians who wrote about Medina.
