The honest testimony of a witness is one of the foundations of any criminal procedure aimed at establishing the facts of an alleged crime and convicting or acquitting the accused. The public prosecution, the defense and the legal representatives of the victims may need to call witnesses to support their case. Witnesses are obligated to tell the truth and to acknowledge that they will tell the truth before giving their testimony. Having an effective witness protection system is one of the most important means of cracking down on corruption and all crimes and violations. It provides a safe environment and instills an atmosphere of trust that is necessary to encourage reporting of all forms of crimes. The state's ability to protect witnesses is one of the most important components of any plan to combat crime in general, and crimes of corruption, terrorism and organized crime in particular. This study focuses on clarifying the aspects of legal protection for the security of witnesses in the legislations of Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia
