Distinctive personality traits of individuals with some mental disorders in the Al-Baha region in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

This study aims at detecting personality traits among an available sample of normal individuals consisting of (78) individuals, and a sample of abnormal individuals suffering from anxiety, depression and psychosomatic disorders consisting of (190) individuals. Also, the study aims at finding differences among them depending on the traits and to determine the predictive capacity for these traits in the categories of those three disorders. To detect personality traits the researchers used the measure of personality traits, which was prepared by (Rocalov, 1991) and was developed to the Jordanian environment by (BaniYounes and Abu Jadi, 2009). The statistical analysis results had shown that there are significant differences among members of the two samples as a whole (normal and abnormal) in all personality traits at all levels on one hand, and the presence of statistically significant differences between the abnormal sample in all personality traits at all levels on the other hand. Also, the statistical analysis results have shown that there are three characteristics for those personal traits (the activity in mental performance trait, the emotionality in interactive performance trait and the flexibility in mental performance trait), and those traits have a clear predictive capability, interpreted together (35%) of the variance between the normal and the abnormal sample on one hand, and the presence of three characteristics for personality traits (the frequency of response for communicative performance trait, the frequency of response in mental performance trait and the emotionality in mental performance trait) interpreted together (14%) of the variance between the three categories of disorders on the other hand. Based on the results, the study recommended the need to work on reducing the level of emotionality trait in motor sensory, mentally and communicatively performance in the sample with anxiety, depression and psychosomatic disorder through the preparation of meaningful behavioral, emotional and cognitive psychological programs. an‎d through the preparation of a trait profile which includes the personal traits for those three disorders.
