Muhammad Abed Al-Jabri and Heritage

The current study aims to analyze Al-Jabri's work in heritage, through his vision and methodology, starting with the definition of heritage in contemporary Arab thought, then the study presents Al-Jabri's definition of heritage and analysis of the elements of this definition and what is distinguished from the definitions presented to heritage by contemporary Arab thinkers. Then the study analyzes in some detail Al-Jabri's methodology in dealing with heritage and compares that methodology with the common methodologies in dealing with heritage, especially the methodology of the Orientalists and the Arab Marxists, through which Al-Jabri developed the features of his new methodology, which borrowed a number of contemporary methodological concepts. Then the study, in its critical aspect, presents the most important observations on Al-Jabri's methodology.
