AFACTOR STRUCTURE OF LEVENSON S MULTIDIMENSIONAL LOCUS OF CONTROL SCALES IN A UNIVERSITY STUDENTS POPULATION

In a study of locus of control among university students, 282 male and 238 females students responded to Levenson s Multidimensional internal, powerful others, and chance locus of control scales (I, P, and C). The purpose of this paper is to report the factor analyses of the I, p, and C scales. The multidimensional of Levenson s scales was confirmed. Factor analysis revealed that the internal scale yielded two factors that explained 43.3% of the variance; powerful other scale yielded two factors also which explained 42.2% of the variance, whereas the factor analysis for chance scale yielded one factor.
