Synthesis and characterization of (5-phenyl mino -3-salicyldiminato-1،2،4- thiadiazole) complexes with some transition metal ions

A new Schiff base (HL) was prepared [5-phenyl amino-3-salicyl dimino- 1،2،4- thiadiazole] by condensation reaction of (3-amino- 5-phenyl amino) with (2-hydroxy benzaldehyde), the product was isolated , studied and characterized by appropirate physical measurements, i.e., IR, UV-Vis., melting point, measuring the molecular weight by freezing point depression (ΔTf) and elemental analysis (C.H.N). The Schiff base (HL) was used as a ligand to prepare a number of metal complexes with metal ion such as:- [Cr(III), Mn (II), Fe (III), Zn(II) and Cd (II)]. All the prepared complexes were studied and characterized in solid state by elemental analysis (C.H.N.M), IR, and UV.Vis. spectra, magnetic susceptibility, conductivity measurements (Λm), and thermal analysis (TG). Molar ratio measurements in DMF solution gave comparable results with those obtained from solid state study, probable structures of the prepared complexes were assigned.
