In this work IRI model (International Reference Ionosphere) have been tested for the estimation of ionospheric F2 region critical frequency (fº F2) at Baghdad, where model values have compared with ionosond records to estimate deviation values hourly from sunrise to sunset, monthly and seasonally for selected days during years (1990-1996), which is the descending phase of the solar cycle. Deviation values may apply on IRI (f º F2) at Iraq-Kurdistan region, where there are no sounding tools for such measurements. Results shown that IRI estimates for (fº F2) at Baghdad was higher values than records and deviation was not constant, it vary from case to case depending on solar and geomagnetic activity, beside that it has daily, monthly, and seasonal variation.
