The production of reactive oxygen species in most diseases including multiple myeloma is confirmed to be the most destructive process to human cells. Potent antioxidant is needed to overcome the lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress. Twenty seven patients with multiple myeloma were included in this study and twenty seven house hold relatives were taken as a control preferred age and sex match. Erythrocyte levels of catalase, GSH-Px and GST activity were determined before and after the first course of chemotherapy treatment ,its about six weeks . Erythrocyte catalase activity before treatment was significantly lower than control groups and after treatment was insignificantly lower than control groups. Erythrocyte GSH-PX and GST activity before and after treatment were significantly higher than control groups.
