Analysis of Graded-Index Optical Waveguides Using Modified Transfer Matrix Method

In this paper, we have presented a modified transfer matrix method to study the propagation characteristics and mode field profile for planar optical waveguides with arbitrary shaped profiles. The proposed method giu, u new characteristic equation with mode index, 4, which enables us to restrict the analysis for a specific mode. The characteristic equation has been formulated numerically using Fortran Power Station +.0 package. The application of this method to graded index waveguides are demonstrated
