A wireless ad-hoc network is a system of wireless mobile nodes that dynamically self-organize in arbitrary and temporary network topologies allowing people and devices to internetwork without any pre-existing communication infrastructure. Furthermore, with an increase in the bandwidth of wireless channels and computational power of mobile devices, multimedia applications are expected to be more prevalent in wireless ad-hoc networks in the near future. In this paper, an overview of transmission of video stream over ad-hoc networks and main challenges has been presented. and a Forward Error Correction (FEC) is used to solve the problem of packet losses on the received video quality by showing its advantages with theoretical analysis. A model for a simple ad-hoc network was developed and a video stream is transferred Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) are calculated without and with using FEC. The simulation results show that the FEC has an enhancement on the perceived video quality by increased the value of means of PSNR.
