    The present study deals with modality which is a very important subject in English and Arabic. Though modality is found in both languages but there is a difference between the two languages .Modality is referring to the speaker‟s attitude towards the assessment of / or judgment of what the speaker says.We introduce a modality where are words and phrases that convey modality meanings and subcategorize for clauses and verbal phrases. Modality is the grammaticalized expression of the speaker s subjective attitudes and psychological stances towards propositions and events and their factuality status.Modality is about a speakers‟ or a writers‟ attitude toward the world. A speaker or writer by using modal words and expressions can express certainty, possibility, willingness, obligation, necessity and ability. Speakers always have different opinions about the same thing.
