A Comparative / Contrastive Study of Subject-Verb Concord in Standard English and Standard Kurdish

This paper deals with a comparative / contrastive study of subjectverb concord in standard English and standard Kurdish . From Linguistic point of view, this subject is tackled in different ways in the two languages. Thus, the study is an attempt to shed light on the similarities and differences of the grammatical features of subjectverb concord in both languages. It considers all the grammatical, notional and proximal concord between the subject and the verb to come up with the main features that differentiate the two languages. This study is divided into four sections. The First section is an introductory one. Section two accounts For subject-verb concord in English. Section three deals with subject-verb concord in Kurdish. Section four includes a contrastive study of subject-verb concord in both languages under comparison and ends up with some conclusions.
