The research on “The aims of representation in the traveller’s text of Guy de Maupassant — the Algerian female as a model” examines the image that Maupassant drew in his numerous writings on Algerian women and their aims. This is by studying the basic features of Algerian women's figures built by the author in his travel book. The research begins with a theoretical introduction that defines the science of the study of literary image, the importance of this type of studies, and its place within the literary studies that belong to the science of comparative literature and then rise a little on the presence of Arab in the French journey during the nineteenth century in general and traces the presence of the city of Algeria in particular. The research is going to study the image of the other, represented by the Algerian woman, who was portrayed by Maupassant in his writings and the distortion that this image carried in an important historical stage. In an attempt to clarify the reasons and objectives of this representation, some of the sections contained in the texts his travel are displayed and tried to discuss and interpret them. Finally, the research concludes with the recognition that the image of Algerian women was distorted and coloured with the impressions of an unmistakable racist ideology that clearly highlights the way in which Maupassant worked to stereotyping her image. It is a symbol and embodiment of alienation, primitive and irrational inferiority, as opposed to the high heel of its French counterpart, which seemed to be standard and model by which the civilizations of different peoples can be measured.
