Using the Mont Carlo code (MCNP4C2), doses were calculated for organs of interest such as intestine, urinary bladder, rectum, vagina uterus, pancreas, spleen, liver, spinal cord and kidneys while patient was undergoing cervix brachytherapy by LDR instrument (Cs-137). In this method of treatment, the total dose can be delivered in one or many fractions depending on the stage of cancer. As the dose in each fraction may be relatively high, the source will stay for long time inside the patient. However, the organs near or far from the cervix may be potentially at risk for receiving high doses from 662 keV photons emitted by Cs-137. The results showed that the dose of cervix was very close to the prescribed dose. In addition, dose of organs, near or far from the treated area, was relatively low and does not exceed 10% of the maximum allowed dose for each organ. As the LDR treatment for this kind of cancer is adopted and justified, this study proved quantitatively that it is safe from radiation protection point of view even if the patient needs undergo to additional fractions. Afterwards, it is recommended to make a simulation before the treatment to check the accuracy of calculated doses.
