This research studies the linguistic problematic areas in the poetry of Adonis which represents one of the remarkable models in modernized poetry; it investigates the relationship between the semantics and the reference and links this problematic area with critical awareness and knowledge that Adonis possess in theoretical poetic writing which influenced his poetic language. This research reveals this problem through three criteria; the linguistic, philosophical and critical research. The research also shows the critical awareness of the nature of the relationship between the semantics and its referential in Adonis' ideas about poetic writing. Analytic study is conducted on this problematic area in his AL-Awael collection in an attempt to discover the effect of poetry in language in some of his texts collection and how poetry plays a role in the fluctuation of the relationship between semantics and its referential in the studied texts.
