This study focuses on the preparation and characterization of single phase Co3O4 nanoparticles. At first Schiff-base complex of the Co+2 from salicylaldehyde and thiourea as precursor was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, UV-vis spectroscopy, conductivity measurements, TG/DTA, cyclic voltammetry (CV). Then Co3O4 nanoparticle was obtained via solid-state decomposition procedure. The crystalline structure of product was studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV). The scanning electron microscopy analysis revealed nearly uniform Co3O4 nanoparticles with an average particle size of approximately 62 nm
