Abstract. A numerical simulation was conducted to study the bubble dynamics in a gas-solid
fluidized bed at high pressure. The gas phase flow was simulated using continuum theory and
the solid phase flow is simulated by discrete element method (DEM). The gas motion was
calculated using Navier-Stocks and continuity equations by the SIMPLE method. Effect of the
pressure on the bubble rise characteristics such as the bubble shape, the average bubbles
diameter and frequency of them were investigated through the bed.
