To design a CMS, two major problems must be investigated: Cell Formation Problem
(CFP) which determines part families and machine groups in each cell and the Facility Layout
Problem (FLP) which specifies the locations of machines in each cell and each cell in the facility. Due
to the interaction between CFP and FLP, these problems should be solved concurrently to obtain the
optimum solution. This paper proposes a Multi-objective mathematical model which responds to CFP
and FLP simultaneously under multi-period horizons. Batch size, part demands, operations sequence,
relocation cost, cell size constraint and inter-cell and intera-cell layout have been considered in the
proposed model. This model was solved using the Compromise Programming method
