Global environmental deterioration growing public concern and many industries are forced to use the special policies for product development, production, service and disposal activities. Increasing the amount of faults and failures, and machinery maintenance become a bar on the environment. Accordingly, it is a great need for tools and methods to understand, control and predict defects. Maintenance Strategies are one method to achieve these conditions. The maintenance generally consumes resources and energy and produces waste and compels pollution, thus, new technologies, new processes and new equipment should be handled and enterprise management should be strengthened for saving energy and reducing pollution. This paper proposes Fuzzy Axiomatic Design (FAD) to select the best green maintenance strategy. At first, the green maintenance criteria was developed based on the literature review, next, the FAD methodology evaluates the requirements of both the green maintenance (design needs) and the strategy (functional needs). The application of the proposed approach in the hypothetical case study has been illustrated and the result of this study helps industries to establish the systematic approach to select the best green maintenance strategy within the set of criteria. When the proposed method is applied, allows to select the most suitable strategy for green maintenance.
