The purpose of the current study was to investigate the would-be correlation between the teachers’ emotional
intelligence and EFL learners’ motivation in Iranian EFL context. The participants of the study were some 240
EFL learners and 26 EFL teachers. Out of the entire learner participants, 41.70% (100) were pre-intermediate
and 58.30 % (140) were elementary students. Additionally, from the total institute teacher participants, 42.30%
(11) were pre-intermediate teachers and 56.70% (15) were elementary teachers. Itʹs also worth noting that all of
the teachers and learners taking part in the present study were females. The instruments used were Emotional
Intelligence Scale (Bar On, 1997), utilized to measure the teachers’ emotional intelligence, and AMBT scale
(Gardner, 1985), exerted to measure the EFL learners’ motivation. Data collected were analyzed using Pearson
Correlation to determine the potential significant relationship between teachers’ emotional intelligence and EFL
learners’ motivation. The obtained results through Pearson Product Moment Correlation showed that there was a
positive significant correlation between teachers’ emotional intelligence and EFL learners’ motivation in Iranian
context. Further, it was revealed that all of the 5 sub-scale of emotional intelligence have positive significant
correlation with learners’ motivation.
