In this paper, we generalize the GMRES algorithm to obtain a matrix iterative method for
solving the generalized sylvester equation AXB – X = C. Also, we show how to adapt the ILU and the
SSOR preconditioner for solving this equation. In order to compare the preconditioned algorithms with the
global GMRES method, we present one numerical example.
