In this note, we introduce a new concept of symmetric Mier-Keeler type contractions for mappings F : X ✕ X → X, where X is a partially ordered metric space. Then, by using the main lemma in [1], which is a very useful criterion for Cauchy sequences, we present new and simple proofs for the existence of a coupled fixed point for such Mier-Keeler type contractions. New coupled fixed point theorems are also presented.
