Abstract— We consider a two-hop Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) where a set of relays assist sensors to relay their observations to the Fusion Centre (FC). We assume correlated fading channels between source and relays. We find an upper bound on the number of active relays required to satisfy a Bit Error Rate (BER) threshold. By applying this upper bound, only a portion of relays have to transmit for each period of time. This approach conserves power and prolongs the network lifetime.
