Strategies in Dubbing Multilingual Films in Iran

Products containing characters speaking in a language other than the main film language are called multilingual films. Therefore, some dubbing countries dubbing such movies face difficulty in finding best strategies for dubbing these types of movies without manipulating the effects of the films. In this article, the authors try to investigate the strategies in dubbing multilingual films in Iran as a dubbing country. The data in this research are collected from 45 multilingual films with the English language as the main language of the movies dubbed into Farsi. Then the movies are examined to find the prevalent strategies in dubbing such movies. The results are indicative of the fact that subtitling is the most common strategy in case of those characters speaking in languages other than the main film language.
