Depletion of fossil fuels, environmental pollution, and public health risk of using them are the main reasons of interest in alternative energy resources. Among renewable resources, solar energy has the most growth in recent years. The goal of this study is to perform a feasibility study of a grid-connected 1MW-scale PV generation power plant installation in Yazd University campus in Yazd province, in Iran which is performed in three aspects of technical, economic, and environmental. The PV power plant is considered to be installed on top roof of parking lots. Based on simulation results, 1MW-scale PV generation power plant costs about 1.2 M$ with payback cost of 5 years. This PV power plant can meet 1569 MWh/yr of electrical energy consumption and decrease about 1000 tons of greenhouse gases.
