Creating a healthy and vibrant community depends on the physical and mental health of the community members and is highly indebted to the healthy, efficient and thoughtful human beings. As we know educators are the main body of every community and their social, personal and academic role in the society is undeniable; therefore, their health is of great importance and gaining knowledge besides physical activity can have a significant impact on their learning. Based on the above assumptions, the authors conducted a research with the aim of investigating the social factors that affect the sports participation of the Shahrekord University students. Theoretical and statistical data of the study are collected by a survey from the University of Shahrekord, standard written questionnaires (Cronbach s alpha 87%) and systematic sampling. A sample of 280 subjects were selected by Cochran formula. The results of this study showed that there is a significant relation between Marital status, gender, socio-economic status, employment status, sports utility feel, easy access to sports facilities, social support, and interest in the particular field of sports and the students’ sports life. There isn t a significant relation between the level of education and sport participation of students. Multivariate regression analysis indicate that a total of 6 variables have the greatest impact on sports participation. These variables include: marital status, unisexual, access to sports facilities, sense of usefulness, social support and interest in sports. In general, independent variables (social factors) could explain 36% of the dependent variable (sports participation).
