A Description Of Iranians’ Performance At The Olympics Based On The Time Series Model

The Olympics is the biggest sporting event in the world with a high standing. It is the best arena for athletes from around the world to demonstrate their competence, prestige, and national pride. The current study aime to describe the sport performances at the Olympics based on the time series model. The method used was descriptive and correlational. The population of the survey includes Iranian athletes presence in fifteen summer Olympic games from 1948 to 2012. The required data was collected through authentic sources such as research projects, articles, and books. These sources include rank, the number of gold medals and the total number of medals at the Olympics. The results indicated that Iran has had an ascending rank at the Olympics. However ranking of Iran in 2016 could not be accurately predicted. Moreover, the number of gold and silver medals were expected to be increased in the upcoming Olympic, while the number of bronze medals were predicted to decrease compared to the previous Olympics.
