اگر نگاهي گذرا به معماري در طول تاريخ بشر بيندازيم ارتباط تنگاتنگ طبيعت جاندار و بي جان و معماري را خواهيم ديد . زيرا معماري با الهام از طبيعت سعي در هرچه بيشتر پايدار نمودن خود كرده و اين ارتباط در طول صده هاي متعدد به گونه هاي متفاوتي نمود خود را در معماري نشان داده است كه از جمله مي توان به تقليد موجودات زنده و يا نحوه همزيستي موجودات با طبيعت اشاره نمود. انسان نيز از زمان هاي بسيار دور به تحليل و شناخت آناتومي و مورفولوژي حيوانات به منظور بكارگيري اصول ساختاري آن در ساخت وسائل و ماشين آلات و حتي در بناها پرداخته است . استفاده از ساختارهاي فرمي حيوانات در معماري معاصر ، شيوه اي متداول و با سابقه ، خواه به منظور دادن وجه سمبوليك به طرح يا دست يافتن به راه حل هاي كاربردي و يا صرفاً به دليل مسائل زيبا شناختي بوده است. هدف اصلي اين مقاله بررسي معماري برگرفته از ساختار جانوران در ساخت و ساز با الهام از چهار ويژگي جانوران يعني ساختار آناتوميك حيوانات ، سازه هاي ساختمان حيوانات ، سازه هاي ساختمان اجتماعات حيواني و سازه هاي موقت حيوانات مي باشد. نتايج حاصل از تحقيق نشان مي دهد كه رابطه بين بيولوژي و معماري يك رابطه ديرينه است و حكايت از عجايب بي نظير دنياي حيوانات دارد بطوريكه مانيز در دنياي انساني خود با آن روبرو هستيم. مانند قو كه هر شب محل خواب خود را مرتب مي كند يا پرستو ها كه داراي اقامتگاه دومي هستند تا زمستان را در آن سپري كنند .
