In recent years the use of fabric composites increases in many different fields. These materials are known by good mechanical properties, tenacity and light weight. This paper studies the tensile properties of the multi-layer glass fabric (plain woven and plain weft knitted) reinforced polyester matrix composites. The stress-strain curves and failure modes of the two composites were investigated and compared. Results revealed that tensile strengths and elastic modulus of the multi-layer woven fabric composites are greater than those of the multi- layer weft-knitted composites. Furthermore, those parameters in the course direction are greater than of the wale direction. All the composite samples fractured in a brittle damage mode and the woven composites are more brittle than the weft knitted composites. Also, comparing the results of composite material made of the knitted fabric shown more elongation at break than the woven fabric composites.
