In the present work, the solution immersion method was used to fabricate ZnO-NiO composite nanostructures on the stainless steel meshes. The effect of initial Zn and Ni concentrations on the wettability properties of the obtained samples was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis was employed to study the morphological properties of the prepared samples. The results showed that increasing the initial nickel concentration caused changes in morphology features of the samples. The SEM results confirmed the formation of sheet-like structures on the stainless steel meshes with thickness of approximately 45 nm according to the initial Ni concentration increasing. In addition, this surface exhibited the high separation efficiency (above 90%) for crude oil-water mixture.
