A simple and efficient protocol has been developed for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-ones using Fe3O4-λ-carrageenan Nanoparticles as magnetically recyclable, heterogeneous, environmentally benign catalysts under mild reaction conditions.1 The yields of dihydropyrimidin-2 (1H)-ones (DHPMs) obtained via this novel protocol are significantly higher than those utilizing the conventional ethanol/HCl method.2,3
