Xanthenes and benzoxanthenes are important classes of compounds that find use as dyes,
fluorescent materials for visualization of biomolecules and in laser technologies due to their
useful spectroscopic properties (1). Upon oxidation these compounds can be converted to
corresponding xanthylium salts which are also useful as dyes and fluorescent materials (2).
Xanthene based compounds have also been investigated for agricultural bactericide activity,
photodynamic therapy, anti-inflammatory effects, antiviral activity and for antagonism of the
paralyzing action of zoxazolamine (3). In our research, we introduce a novel catalytic route for
preparation of new bis-xanthene derivatives (9,9 -((hexane-1,6-diylbis(oxy))bis(1,4-
phenylene))bis(3,3,6,6-tetramethyl-3,4,5,6,7,9-hexahydro-1H-xanthene-1,8(2H)-dione)) by
using from One-Pot five-compounds reaction between bis-aldehydes and dimedone under
solvent-free conditions at 100 oC.
