Zeolitic molecular sieves decorated with transition metals, mainly by the isomorphous
substitution, had attracted great interest in redox catalysis because of their exceptional
catalytic activity over various organic compounds [1–3]. Among them, because of the unique
one-dimensional channel walls and better stability, synthesis and modifications in MCM-41
materials flourish more than in the other MCM-48 (cubic) and MCM-50 (lamellar) materials,
as the former can enhance the reaction of sterically bulkier molecules by the suitable choice of
surfactants/organic modifiers. Indeed, the greater flexibility of silica network enables the
incorporation of various higher transition metals into the framework of MCM-41. In this work
we have grafted 5-bromosalicylaldehyde ligand with palladium acetate salt onto MCM-41
successfully and the catalyst was analyzed by a series of characterization techniques such as.
FT-IR, TEM. BET, SEM and TGA and it was applied as a heterogeneous catalyst for the
formation of C-C bond from arylhalides and boronic acid (Figure
