Graphene and its derivatives such as graphene oxide(GO),has attracted great attention
because of amazing thermal, mechanical and electrical properties.Graphene, a monolayer of
sp2-hybridized carbon atoms, has been employed in many fields, especially in the synthesis of
nanocomposites[1,2]. In this work radiopaque polymers/(GO)nanocomposites were prepared
via solution method. Radiopaque materials have been used for various medical applications
such as embolization process, preparation of implant, prosthesis, and drug delivery. These
polymers have been synthesized via various method such as blending of polymers with heavy
elements or their salts; but covalent binding of iodine to monomers or performed polymers
have been considered[3].
Radiopaque copolymers was synthesized via modification of P(MMA-co-AA) by monoand
triiodophenylisocyanate. In order to preparation of nanocomposites, various ratios of GO
(5, 10 and 20%) were used. The radiopaque copolymers were dissolved in acetone and also
different amount of GO was dispersed in acetone via ultrasonic homogenizer. Then GO and
polymer solutions were mixed and stirred for 24-48 h. After that, the solvent was evaporated
and the final products were dried in vaccum. The obtained composites were characterized by
using scanning electron microscopy (SEM)and X-ray diffraction (XRD).Also thermal
properties of the nanocomposites were investigated.Radiopacity of copolymers and
nanocomposites were explored by using X-radiography.
