The series of new antifriction self-lubricating composites on base of thermoplastic of our own invention (molecular composites). The friction and wear of molecular composites, sliding against iron, were investigated in different conditions by a reciprocating tribometer. The physical mechanical properties were measured by standard tests. The tribological characteristics of molecular composites were determined by applying to iron several composite specimens of advanced compositions, containing friction modifiers. With water present in the experimental cell, friction and wear are effectively reduced. The composites were used in order to make a model specimen of tube bearing stern. The analysis of the work our bearing was made by using the experimental set for the study of parametric oscillations of ship shafting. The set is universal and allows studying the longitudinal, transversal and torsional oscillations. The results of the calibration load of the node are exposed. As a result of testing the new material for the stern-tube bearing, based on molecular composite, is concluded that the new material conforms to the requirements of materials for stern tube bearings.
