The distribution coefficient, Kd, is the ratio of the mass of solute species absorped or precipitated on the solids per unit of dry mass of the soil, S, to the solute concentration in the liquids, C. Due to the distribution coefficient is one of the important parameters affecting the mobility of heavy metals in soil and it plays a very important role in the accuracy of calculations in the safety assessment of waste disposal facilities, thus determination of these coefficients with laboratory methods is indispensable. In this study distribution coefficient of cesium, as one of the important elements of the waste inventory, in the soil of Anarak disposal with specific physical and chemical properties, was investigated by laboratory batch method. After preparation of the soil, different ratios of the soil contacted with different concentrations of cesium the samples were analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectrometery and cesium distribution coefficient values were determined.
