New platinum(II) complexes containing 2,2′-Dipyridyl disulfide ligand was synthesized by the reaction of K2PtCl4 and [Pt(p-MeC6H4)2(SMe2)2] with 2,2′-Dipyridyl disulfide in a 1:1 molar ratio. In these complexes the ligand was coordinated to metals via the chelating nitrogen donor atoms. These complexes have been characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, UV/Vis, elemental analysis and conductometry. The redox behavior of the compounds were studied by cyclic voltammetry in DMSO solvent at 100 mVs-1 scan rate, which showed both quasi-reversible and irreversible processes in this scan rate.
