Experimental liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data was obtained for the extraction of formic acid from wate by 2-methyl-1-butanol (2MB) at 298.2 K. The NRTL model was used to correlate to experimental data,and the binary interaction parameters were calculated. The reliability of the experimental tie-line data was confirmed by using Othmer-Tobias and Hand correlations. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were evaluated over the immiscibility region. The average root-mean-square deviation between the experimental and calculated mass fractionswas 0.23% that shows a good regression fit to the experimental results.
