In this paper, the reaction time of methane hydrate formation in presence and absence of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) is measured. In order to investigate the effect of SDS on the reaction time of methane hydrate formation, aqueous solution of SDS with concentrations of 300 and 500 ppm were prepared. The experiments were done in a 460 cm3 stirred batch reactor at a temperature of 273.65 K and an initial cell pressure of 7 MPa. The experimental results show that utilization of SDS with both concentrations of (300 and 500) ppm, decreases the reaction time of methane hydrate formation, considerably.
