Densities and refractive indices of binary mixtures comprising sulfolane + 1,4- butanediol were measured across the whole composition range and in the temperature between 298.15 to 313.15 K. Excess molar volumes of the mixtures were derived and correlated as a function of mole fraction using the Redlich-Kister equation for binary mixtures. The experimental values were used to compute the volumetric parameters including the excess molar volume . From the obtained data of refractive index, the excess refractive indices, , have been calculated by Reis et al model. The results obtained were used to study the nature of molecular interactions in the mixtures.
